CURRICULUM SPECIFICATION

Complete 6-Module Weaving CAD Syllabus.

Unlike decorative surface embroidery, Jacquard CAD determines the structural interlacing of yarns on active looms. You will learn to draft graphs, calculate binding floats, allocate hooks, and prevent cloth distortion during high-speed weaving.

MODULE 01 Weave Physics & Interlacing Fundamentals
  • Basic fabric structures: Plain weave, Twill derivatives, Satin, and Sateen.
  • Warp and Weft calculation: Ends Per Inch (EPI), Picks Per Inch (PPI), and crimp factors.
  • Color-and-weave effects and analyzing commercial fabric swatches.
MODULE 02 Jacquard CAD Interface & Canvas Architecture
  • Setting up design canvas based on reed width, total ends, and repeat dimensions.
  • Understanding electronic Jacquard hook capacities: 960, 1440, 1920, and 2688 hooks.
  • Drafting harness ties: straight ties, pointed ties, and border-body independent harness.
MODULE 03 Figure Binding, Ground Weaves & Float Control
  • Placing binding points in motif artwork without creating structural weakness.
  • Controlling long floats to prevent yarn snagging in high-speed Rapier looms.
  • Integrating contrasting ground weaves (e.g. satin body with twill motifs).
MODULE 04 Saree, Dupatta & Furnishing Layouts
  • Complete layout planning: Skirt borders, body repeats, and heavy pallu transitions.
  • Extra warp and extra weft figuring for brocade and Zari effects.
  • Double cloth and jacquard curtain/furnishing structural specifications.
MODULE 05 Rapier Loom Machine Setup & Punch Files
  • Generating machine-ready card formats: .EP, .JC5, .UPT for Bonas, Staubli, and local electronic heads.
  • Visiting working Rapier Jacquard looms in Sachin GIDC to test student-drafted graphs.
  • Troubleshooting loom mispicks, warp dropouts, and selvedge binding issues.
MODULE 06 Mill Project Work & Senior Certification
  • Compiling an industrial Jacquard graph portfolio featuring 20+ production-tested designs.
  • Consulting on mill order estimation: pick count calculation and yarn cost forecasting.
  • Direct referral to Surat weaving mill design offices and export units.
